Well, we are nearing the holidays and that means food and family and friends and probably some stress. Halloween is full of fun foods and candy and that can be overwhelming for those struggling with disordered eating. We still want you to enjoy the holiday. Ofcourse, moderation is the key but that can be difficult especially when you’re eating for emotional reasons and especially at high stress times like holidays.
Here are 4 things you can do to get through the holidays in one piece!
1. If you’re invited to a Halloween party, make your host/hostess aware of any specific foods you might need.
2. You could eat before the party so you are not hungry or you could bring your own special food.
3. Allow yourself the freedom to eat whatever you want knowing you will maintain balance afterwards.
4. Focus on the people at the party rather than the food.
Have a happy and peaceful Halloween. Maybe have a piece of pumpkin pie for tradition!
